These Think Tank ideas operate as incentives for Partners to produce their PAPER B proposals.

PAPER B - How partners propose to solve the problem:

BELGIUM

Here we will not address issues dealing with the use of adapted kitchenware such as talking timers, meat thermometers, measuring spoons, safe knives, etc. but rather on the psychological aspects linked to visual impairment for which playful activities may provide some reassurance and alleviate the sense of frustration and uselessness when preparing meals.

Some role-play and simulation games may often help to dedramatize a situation (whether you are blind or not).

CYPRUS Today more and more blind students are attending regular schools and colleges, thus taking their places in the mainstream of society thus with learning skills in the area of food preparation will help the students to become the most contributing members of their school/homes. Learning skills in the area of food preparation will help the students to become the most contributing members of their homes. It is also a great way to learn responsibility! Students should be taught from an early age to be involved in the food preparation process. Students can gather ingredients required for recipes. CYPRUS_Paper_B_CASE_6_Poland
ITALY It will be a good idea to start with simple food that teenagers like. So from easy recipes to more difficult ones. Cooking should be considered a playful activity if it becomes a game the learners are more motivated to learn. This will encourage them to learn to cook different recipes every time and to teach their friends their own recipes. ITALY Paper B CASE 6 Poland
LATVIA Sometimes blind people themselves facilitate to their exclusion from the society due to uncertainty and lack of confidence in their own abilities and skills. Amazing results can be achieved through encouraging, teaching and supporting the blind ones. Blind and visually impaired people all over the world are able to live alone, get involved and take active participation in various activities, they are even able to run companies and taking leading positions in different organization. Their involvement in different games might help in building their self confidence and encouraging these people to take initiative. Initially the games should be simple and easily understandable to everybody, the ones not requiring special effort, however, making people think, do, and get involved. Gradually they could become more complex, thus contributing to the development of the skills of visually impaired people. /LATVIA_Paper_B_CASE_6_Poland.jpg

PORTUGAL
Organising a workshop destined to give blind/visually impaired people a sense of capability and independence. In order to prevent a sense of exclusion and favour interpersonal relations, thus increasing their motivation, blindfold full-sighted partners should try to fulfill the same tasks. At the end, everyone should sit and enjoy the dish together, moving then to a de-stressing dessert.

SPAIN
“Pretending to be cookers”. We propose as a motivational start for the student body an experimental practice or workshop titled “How to prepare a simple, healthy and fun recipe” where the prepared menu, by blind students, would be for the later enjoyment of other classmates, blind as well, and then they would vote for their culinary proposal.
