Poznan University of Medical Sciences is a leading Polish medical centre with over 80 years of academic experience and with great potential for development. The University is well equipped for research in basic medical sciences clinical investigations, diagnosis and treatment.

Teaching and research are mainly based on co-operation with 5 Clinical Hospitals (2216 beds in total) as well as on other city hospitals.

In 1991 the University decided to introduce programs in English (4-Year M.D. - Program based entirely on the American curriculum and the requirements of the U.S.M.L.E. system and 6-Year Program in English based on the Polish/European model). The University has been implementing many research programs financed by the European Commission and the Polish Ministry of Science. It comprises 15 Chairs and 16 Departments. The Faculty researches cooperate with the number of partners from the research centers and universities in Europe and North America. This includes joint research projects and visits of research fellows and visiting professors.

The research themes related to health and aging issues and health care providers have been dealt with within the framework of a few Ph theses and several M.A. theses written at the University. In the years 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and  2009-2012 the Medical University took part in SFC, EUDAP - 2, EMTOC, ETASC, PITOC, SIM, EUDAP – Faculty, Boys&Girls. The project Boys&Girls aims to produce a webseries to reach and sensitize young people to some of today most pressing public health concerns including nutrition, alcohol and drug abuse, and sexual health (2011-2013).

The team of Laboratory of Environmental Research is well trained in numerous activities and scientific projects based on addiction preventions and popularization of a healthy lifestyle. In this context all staff members are acquainted with epidemiological studies, both theoretical and experimental research. Moreover, they are especially experienced in work with mothers, elders  and youth. Educational aspect of our scientific programmes are extremely important, for example we cooperate with a large number of schools in our region – Wielkopolska. Current target groups of our studies are mainly pupils, students, their XXX , teachers and head-masters.
